Protection and Sanctification

In John 17:11–18, Jesus prays for His disciples as He prepares to leave them in the world. His prayer centers on two vital needs: **protection and sanctification**. First, He asks the Father to protect them from the evil one, knowing they would face temptation, opposition, and spiritual attack. Then Jesus prays, “Sanctify them by the truth; Your word is truth.” God not only desires to guard His people, but also to make them holy and keep them pure through the truth of His Word. As believers live in a world that often opposes Christ, we are reminded that our strength comes from God’s protection and our purity comes from being grounded in His truth.
