The Day of the Lord

Speaker: Rev. Ferrell Towns Date: Sunday, August 9, 2026

In 1 Thessalonians 5, Paul turns our attention to “The Day of the Lord” and the events surrounding Christ’s return. Building from the promise of the Rapture in chapter 4, this message follows five important words: Rapture, Revelation or Return, Reign, Release, and Restoration. Together, they remind us that God has a definite plan for the future. Christ will gather His people, return in glory, reign in righteousness, bring final release from sin and its consequences, and ultimately restore all things according to His perfect purpose. For the believer, these truths are not meant to produce fear, but readiness, hope, and faithful living as we look forward to the fulfillment of God’s promises.
